Death Of A Nation: Russia After The Collapse Of The Soviet Union

History — By on August 29, 2010 at 4:47 pm

Death Of A Nation tells how Russia has changed since the fall of communism. After the Soviet Union collapsed, the life expectancy has dropped, every other newborn baby is diagnosed with a disease at birth. In the first half of 2005 the population dropped by half a million and the WHO estimates that in 2020 over a million persons will have died of AIDS in Russia.

In Moscow however the situation is different, the city has more billionaires than any other city in the world. Was the free market really such a huge victory for the Russian people, or was the USSR socialism actually better for the people, despite the lack of freedom?
