Comparisons to Al Gore’s Oscar-winning slide show will be inevitable, but there’s a key difference between the two documentaries. An Inconvenient Truth was aimed at the PBS set, while Leonardo DiCaprio’s The 11th Hour combines a traditional structure with a more MTV-friendly pace. Of course, neither was made by these public figures. Davis Guggenheim directed the former, while Nadia Conners and Leila Conners Petersen are behind the latter.
DiCaprio serves as producer, co-writer, and narrator (the three previously worked on the short films Global Warming and Water Planet). Their first feature combines a diverse array of interviews with a dizzying variety of images, both soothing and alarming (droughts and hurricanes vs. serene sunsets and playful polar bears). Speakers include former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, Cambridge physicist Stephen Hawking, and progressive CEO Ray Anderson, hero of The Corporation. Granted, there’s no obvious youth appeal in these subjects, but the presence of the Titanic heartthrob-turned-Scorsese star, who keeps his on-screen narration to a tasteful minimum, plus atmospheric tracks from Sigur Rós, Coldplay and Mogwai seems likely to attract a younger crowd.
And that seems to be the point, since The 11th Hour is, at heart, a call to arms. It begins by taking a look at the causes of global warming before exploring solutions, from eating organic to building with solar power. There isn’t a ton of new information for environmental experts, but DiCaprio and his team have assembled a thought-provoking primer for neophytes and potential activists.

11th Hour – Global warming and human population growth beyond 7 billion
Since 20,000 years ago the temperature on the planet earth has been rising. It has risen dramatically melting the 1 mile high ice sheet that used to cover the city of Ottawa where I live. This ice sheet extended all the way down to New York City.
Global warming is nothing new it has been going on for 20,000 years. And thank heavens for that or else the city of New York, Ottawa Canada and countless of others would not exist.
The warming 20,000 years ago happened without human intervention.
Over the last 650,000 years the earth has experienced no less than 7 ice ages. Every 75,000 years the temperatures on the Earth plunge. It is a cyclical nature that is clearly shown on the graphs in this documentary.
Other pre-historic evidence shows that the world’s oceans have been significantly hotter than they are now (bottom depths 20C) and that today the world’s oceans are the coolest that they have been in quite awhile.
Many of the weather stories shown are simply for dramatic effect to scare people. Weather extremes happen all over the planet every year.
Mankind is probably influencing the climate in his own small way, but it is nothing compared to what nature can do with a drop in solar activity, an asteroid strike or a major volcanic eruption.
The Earth will always survive, it is man that needs to worry and be adaptable. And man’s greatest worry right now is an ever increasing population that will also affect the climate.
How will the human population fair over the next 100 years or so? Lets see:
In 2010 there are three potential factors that will be reducing worldwide population.
1. In June 2006 the world reached worldwide Peak Oil. The world has been at the top of this curve for the last 4 years. In 2011 we start down the down slope of the Peak Oil curve. By 2015 oil prices will begin to spike upwards sharply. By 2030 the oil civilization we know today will be over. With no affordable oil for fertilizer or farm machines, worldwide food supply will drop significantly.

2. Weather forecasts over the last 3,000 years show a cooling trend every 200 years or so. This 200 year cooling cycle has now been tied to solar sunspot activity. The end of the current warming period is 2010. From 2011 (or there about) until 2211 the world will be getting gradually colder and colder as sunspot activity on the sun declines.
200 Year Sunspot Cycle is also a weather cycle

3. On August 17, 2028 I have had a premonition of an asteroid strike in the United States in or around Yellowstone National Park. This asteroid strike will destabilize the Yellowstone Super Caldera resulting in the largest volcanic eruption mankind has ever witnessed.
The Yellowstone Super Caldera volcano is primed and ready to erupt. It is now 200,000 years over due for its next eruption.
The combined asteroid strike and Yellowstone Super Caldera volcanic eruption is forecast to wipe out all life on the North American continent for 100 years.
This event will not happen without warning. In 2024 the incoming asteroid will be spotted. In 2026 its impact site will be officially determined. On August 17, 2028 the asteroid will impact on or near the Yellowstone National Park destabilizing the Yellowstone Super Caldera volcano.
If events in 2024 and 2026 do not come to pass there is no asteroid strike. This is just a premonition and nothing is written in stone. My only concern is that I have NEVER been wrong when it comes to premonitions in 46 years. NEVER!
The premonition was received on June 12, 2008 while I was on a CalTrains trip from Sunnyvale to San Francisco to go biking down by the San Francisco waterfront and over the Golden Gate Bridge.
American President Barack Obama, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev have been warned of the premonition. Russia is the safest place to be during the impact event on August 17, 2028 between Yoshkar-Ola and Kirov. All three presidents were notified in the fall of 2008. This premonition is recorded in the first Presidential Kids Art Album eBook honoring the new friendship of American President Barack Obama and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

The asteroid event is NOT an E.L.E. Event. (Extinction Level Event)
1 billion humans survive the August 17, 2028 cataclysm.
So there are three major upcoming events in nature and human behavior that will be affecting the human population on the earth, global temperature (based on historic records) and consumption of oil when it runs out in 2030.

Is Carbon Dioxide a greenhouse gas? How much Carbon Dioxide are human beings pumping into the atmosphere? How much is staying in the atmosphere? There were two billion people in 1950. Now we have six going on seven billion people. Everybody cooks their food.
How much carbon dioxide would be in the atmosphere if humans didn’t exist?
